Denali and Mount McKinley Bus Tours — Tours of Alaska!
Denali Alaska Bus Tours

Denali Alaska Bus Tours!

There are the Denali Alaska Bus Tours that operate within the park itself and also the Scenic Bus Tours that depart from Anchorage that include transportation to and from Denali National Park in Alaska. What we are concerned with here is the latter of the two and the differences between what is available for the coming tourism season. Another option available to you is the popular Rail & Bus Tour that includes train transportation to and from Anchorage Alaska.

Denali and Mount McKinley Bus Tours!

A little known fact is that not all tours can enter the park and travel all the way to the old gold town of Kantishna located at the end of what is known as the Park Road. This tour is reserved exclusively to the tour busses operated for the National Park Service.

The Denali Park Shuttle Bus and the Denali Park Tour Bus are reserved through the park concessioner, Doyon/ARAMARK Joint Venture. You can contact them about reservations at 1-800-622-7275 or 907 272-7275 for international and local callers in Anchorage.

Mount McKinley ranks high in the hearts of visitors to Denali Park as one of the most anticipated sights they hope to see. Unfortunately, visibility is often obscured by low clouds or fog.  If Mt. McKinley is on your bucket list for an Alaskan vacation, here are some things that can increase your odds of getting a great view of the mountain.

  • Plan to visit in the winter or spring months as this is when the mountain is least likely to be cloud covered. If this is unacceptable and your vacation will be in the summer months like that of most visitors, May and June typically offer a better chance of seeing the mountain or at least to get a partial view.
  • Plan to be in the area for at least five days. Chances are better then 90% of seeing the mountain if your visit is five or more days in length.

Best Places to see Mount McKinley;

  • Denali Viewpoint South at mile 135 of the George Parks Highway. Alaska State Parks permit required.
  • You’ll have plenty of opportunities to view McKinley on a Park Road Bus Tour or Shuttle Trip, that is providing the weather cooperates. Popular viewpoints include Reflection Lake and at the town of Kantishna.
